Neuro-Ophthalmologic Manifestations of Nonorganic Disease
Kim Hyun-Ah

Abstract
Patients with functional problems are usually convinced that their symptoms have an organic cause and resist to possibility that there is a psychological cause for their problems. Visual problems without a clear organic cause are quite common. But the physician faced with a patient complaining of decreased vision or some other disturbance related to the afferent or efferent visual systems for which there is no apparent biologic explanation must ascertain that an organic disorder is not present. In neuro-ophthalmologic viewpoint, vision including visual acuity and field, ocular motility and alignment, pupillary size and reactivity and eyelid position and function may be affected from functional problems. In this article, neuro-ophthalmologic manifestations of nonorganic disease and the various methods used to diagnose are discussed.
